Due to the current Covid 19 situation, all branch activities have been suspended including meetings and competitions. You can keep up with CAMRAs activities nationally by following the website and joining the “Red On-Lion” virtual pub until things return to normal.
The AGM of the Cannock Chase branch of CAMRA was held at the Linford Arms on 2nd February, and a new committee has been elected (or in the majority of cases, re-elected!). The posts can be seen on the contact page of the website. Malcolm Pearson has stepped down after a total of five years as Chair and been replaced by John Morgan as Branch Chairman, with a new vice chair of Liz Read. Don Taylor has stepped down as pubs officer due to an imminent house move away from the area, but is replaced by Steven Swain who will also be holding the interest of cider drinkers very close to his heart!
All other posts remain the same, A very big thanks to all members who are stepping down from the committee for all the hard work and efforts, they really have worked hard. You will already have noticed on the diary page information about future meetings and POTY presentations, and the new committee look forward to seeing as many members supporting the local branch in social and campaigning activities throughout the year. Our main event this year will be the 7th Cannock Real Ale and Cider Festival from 17th to 19th of September. Keep watching the website, and come along and get involved, it is sometimes hard work, but rewarding!
The Pub of the Year award has been for 2019 and the winners are listed on the POTY page of this website together with presentation dates. It is always good to see members at these awards as it shows our commitment to these pubs, and is a fine chance to sample some very good beers.
