Each year we present an award to the top three real ale pubs in the Cannock Chase CAMRA area.
2019
The micropubs of the area swept the board with awards this year taking all top 3 places relegating the usual favourites to 4th, 5th and 6th places. 3rd place this year went to the Newhall Arms in Cannock, (last years winner). Presentation of the certificate will be held on Friday 6th March at 7.30pm.
2nd place goes to the Rusty Barrel, who also came 2nd last year! Situated at the Ferndale Centre, Rugeley, this wonderful micropub has now become a well established real ale watering hole in Rugeley under the ownership and care of Darren. The presentation will be on Friday 13th March at 7.30pm.
The winner of the 2019 POTY goes to one of the newest micro’s in the area, Andys’ Ale House at Great Wyrley. Run by the two Andy’s, this superb one roomed micro has gone in leaps and bounds and is well deserving of the award. The presentation will be on Friday 20th March at 7.30pm.
Remember, that as the Cannock Chase CAMRA area gets more and more new pubs opening (especially micropubs), the competition will get even stiffer! We look forward to 2020 and will see who can achieve this impressive accolade!
Cannock Chase CAMRA’s winner for 2014-2016 was The Cross Keys in Hednesford, in 2017 the Linford Arms secured the position, and in 2018, the Newhall Arms won the award.
